The Victorian real estate community is mourning the loss of Kevin (Frederick) Biggin, founder of BigginScott, who passed away on 28 July 2025, just shy of his 89th birthday.
Described by the company as “the beating heart” of the business, Kevin is remembered as a pioneering professional, a mentor, and the driving force behind the culture that has shaped BigginScott for decades.
Kevin’s journey began humbly at 19, pedalling across Melbourne’s suburbs on his bicycle to collect rents.
From those early days, he rose to become one of the city’s most respected figures in real estate. In the mid-1960s, he partnered with Barry and Lou Arnold, laying the foundation for what would become BigginScott.
His people-first philosophy and vision set the tone for the network’s growth and reputation.
“Kevin taught us that real estate isn’t about properties – it’s about people,” BigginScott director Tom McCarthy said.
“He’d light up talking about the young couple who just bought their first home, and you could tell he was thinking about his own journey – from that kid on a bike to helping families find their dreams.
That passion, that genuine care for our clients’ stories, that’s Kevin’s greatest gift to all of us.”
Colleagues remember Kevin for balancing professional excellence with his trademark down-to-earth style, ensuring the brand stayed connected to its local communities while embracing innovation.
From his early days as a Queensland jackaroo and even a square dance caller, to building one of Melbourne’s most enduring real estate names, Kevin Biggin leaves behind a legacy of integrity, partnership, and service.
His influence will be felt for generations, not only in the company that bears his name but across an industry he helped shape.
