"48% of Melbourne experiences food insecurity—that's over 2 million people struggling to put meals on the table," points out Justin Dickinson, CEO and Founder of The Big Umbrella Foundation.
It's a staggering statistic that prompted Harcourts Victoria to roll up their sleeves and get involved.
The real estate company has partnered with The Big Umbrella (TBU) to tackle this crisis head-on, with their team volunteering time and the Harcourts Foundation providing crucial financial backing.
Recently, Harcourts Victoria's state office team (pictured in blue) sliced, diced, cooked and cleaned at TBU's Brunswick Emergency Relief Centre, preparing nutritious meals before heading to Federation Square to serve them directly to those who need them most.
"We're committed to supporting our community and helping those in need," said Adam Fiteni, CEO of Harcourts Victoria, who led the volunteering effort.
"It's one thing to talk about community support, but actually being there, preparing meals and meeting people face-to-face—that's where real impact happens."

The experience left a lasting impression on the team. "It's inspiring to see the impact The Big Umbrella is making in addressing food insecurity," reflected Bella Costikidis, Harcourts Victoria Business Operations Manager.
"You realise how many people in our own backyard are struggling with something as basic as their next meal" added Rachel Atkin, Property Management Operations Manager, Victoria.
TBU's comprehensive approach includes Feed Melbourne (twice weekly at Federation Square), disaster relief response, and community outreach through their Family Table and A Real Meal Brunswick services.
Their work reaches hundreds of people each week, providing not just meals but dignity and hope.
"Every meal makes a difference, and we're grateful for the support of volunteers like the Harcourts team," said Victoria Wilson, The Big Umbrella Manager Teams & Operations.
