Harcourts Tasmania is thrilled to announce that Max Calvert from Nutrien Harcourts has officially secured a top-two finish at today’s Real Estate Institute of Tasmania (REIT) Novice Auction Competition.

While the overall winner remains a closely guarded secret until the REIT Awards dinner in October, today’s brilliant result guarantees Max a place in the next round. He will proudly represent Tasmania at the prestigious AUSTROS championships in Melbourne this May.

Securing a top spot in the REIT competition—an organisation representing over 170 real estate professionals across the state—is no small feat. As the reigning champion of last year’s Novice Auction Competition, Max has once again proven his exceptional skill on the auction floor. Naturally, we have our fingers crossed for a back-to-back victory later this year.

Reflecting on the event, Max shared his enthusiasm: “It’s always a nerve-wracking and extremely fun experience getting up to do an auction comp, but never a wasted experience. It was fantastic to see an increase in competitors. I love auctioning and hope that Tasmania gets on board with the process in the not-too-distant future.”

Tony Morrison and Kate Littlejohn, Co-CEOs of Harcourts Tasmania, expressed their immense pride in his achievement.

"We honestly couldn't be prouder of Max," they shared. "Watching him progress to the AUSTROS is a testament to the hard work he puts in behind the scenes. He embodies the genuine connection and market excellence we strive for at Harcourts Tasmania. If we're being completely honest, his auctioneering skills keep us all on our toes. His success is a brilliant reflection of the dedication he brings to his clients and his craft every single day."

Max is a deeply dedicated professional with roots firmly planted in the Tasmanian rural industry. Growing up in a family heavily involved in the local wool trade, he developed a profound appreciation for rural life and the farming community early on. He later earned a Bachelor of Communication and Media from the University of Notre Dame in Sydney.

This mix of strategic communication and a genuine rural upbringing gives Max a uniquely authentic approach to the rural real estate market.

Molly Gibbons, Performance Coach at Harcourts Tasmania, has worked closely with Max and praised his continuous development.

"Max is one of those rare individuals who genuinely wants to learn and refine his skills," Gibbons noted. "He takes feedback on board with a smile—and usually a bit of cheeky humour—before immediately applying it to get better.

Seeing him command the room today and secure his spot in Melbourne is a proud moment for all of us. He has an incredibly bright future ahead."

As a proud Tasmanian, Max continues to serve his home state with a blend of professional expertise and a personal touch. Harcourts Tasmania looks forward to cheering him on as he takes the stage at the AUSTROS in May, showcasing the very best of Tasmanian real estate talent on a national platform.
