The Harcourts Foundation has announced a $2,000 grant to HeartKids in support of the annual Two Feet & a Heartbeat campaign. This initiative raises vital funds and awareness for children and families impacted by childhood-onset heart disease (CoHD), whilst fostering connection and community engagement.

The campaign invites Australians to participate in a symbolic walk that highlights the harsh realities of the condition. Participants are encouraged to walk 4km, or take on a full 8km representing the eight babies born every day in Australia with a heart condition.

Pauline Smith, Head of Harcourts Foundation, highlighted the impact of the grant on the broader community.

"It is a true privilege to support HeartKids," Smith noted.

"We are constantly learning how best to show up for our community, and honestly, seeing the immense resilience of these children puts our own everyday worries right into perspective. This grant is a small but sincere step in helping provide the continuous care these families need."

All funds raised from the initiative will be used to increase the accessibility of HeartKids support services and programmes in hospitals, across local communities, and in rural and regional areas. CoHD is a lifelong condition that encompasses periods of fluctuating health, complex medical decision-making, and significant developmental and educational transitions.

Melissa Green (pictured, left), Harcourts Queensland Foundation Ambassador, emphasised the importance of community solidarity.

"Our local community is at the heart of everything we do, and partnering with HeartKids allows us to connect with people on a deeply personal level," Green said.

"We might just be walking a few kilometres, but the shared support and authenticity of this event mean the world to the families involved. It is about showing up and walking alongside them."

For nearly 50 years, HeartKids has been the only Australian charity dedicated to providing lifelong support, resources, and advocacy for the 250,000 people impacted by childhood-onset heart disease.

The organisation provides connection and care informed by lived experience, working to reach every Australian family affected by the condition.

Mitz Wang (pictured, right), Fundraising & Events Coordinator at HeartKids Limited, expressed gratitude for the ongoing partnership.

"We are incredibly grateful for this $2,000 contribution from the Harcourts Foundation," Wang shared.

"It is through genuine partnerships like this that we can continue our work. Every bit of support helps us ensure that no family has to face the daunting journey of CoHD alone."
