Place Estate Agents has expanded with the arrival of Place Purpose Group, led by Mitch Wakeham, as marking a strategic reset designed to sharpen direction and position the business for its next phase of growth.

Wakeham, who was previously aligned with another international real estate brand, said the transition reflects a deliberate evolution rather than a reactionary change.

The move follows a period of reflection on scale, structure and long-term relevance in an increasingly competitive market.

“The learnings from the past have been valuable,” Wakeham said.

“They helped shape the operator and the leader I am today. But at a certain point, growth requires clarity of purpose and the confidence to build something that fully reflects where you are heading.”

Place Purpose Group has been established to provide that clarity.

The new structure brings a renewed focus on leadership accountability, operational excellence and brand alignment, with an emphasis on sustainable growth rather than short-term expansion.

Wakeham confirmed that while the Australian business has been reset under the Place Purpose Group banner, his international exposure and market involvement remain active, particularly within ultra-luxury and auction-led environments overseas.

“This is about building a platform that is fit for the next decade,” he said.

“Not just operationally, but culturally and strategically. The market is shifting, and businesses that lead through that shift are the ones prepared to make intentional, forward-looking decisions.”

With expanded reach, a strengthened leadership framework and a clear strategic mandate, Place Purpose Group enters 2026 positioned to play a more influential role across the Australian real estate industry.
