This week marks the start of a new chapter, with the finalisation of the US$880 million deal between Real and REMAX Holdings.
Completion of the transaction occurred on August 24 in the US (August 25 local time) and comes less than four months after the companies first announced the deal. Following the completion, the public company formerly known as REMAX Holdings will now operate as Real REMAX Group.
Real and REMAX will continue to operate under their respective brands and business models.
While it is a significant step for the global network, REMAX Australia Managing Director Joel Davoren said the focus for the Australian leadership team remains firmly on supporting its business owners, teams and individuals within the network.
“Here in Australia we have always been very independent and progressive in our approach to the way in which we support our network, and that does not change,” said Mr Davoren.
“REMAX remains REMAX, our independently owned franchises remain the same, and our commitment to identifying systems and services that directly benefit our members will remain the same.
"Our brand here in Australia has always taken a forward-thinking approach, which has been crucial to supporting the success of our businesses and ensuring we continue to meet the changing needs of Australia’s real estate landscape."
While the global merger between The Real Brokerage and REMAX Holdings will focus on building one of the most innovative real estate companies in the world, Real and REMAX will continue to retain their distinct identities, with their individual business models continuing to be supported.
Importantly, REMAX in Australia will continue to be recognised under the REMAX brand, as it always has.
“This is an important opportunity to build on the direction of the business as two recognised companies come to together to meet the needs of the changing global real estate profession,” Mr Davoren said.
“Our brand, identity, franchise network and entrepreneurial culture remain at the heart of our network. While there is no doubt this is a significant moment for the brand and company, we continue to support our network as we did yesterday and the day before.”
The acquisition brings together two complementary business models, uniting Real’s AI-powered, high-growth brokerage platform, proprietary software and vibrant agent community with REMAX’s iconic real estate brand and expansive global franchise network with a presence in more than 120 countries and territories and more than 145,000 agents.
In a letter to agents, brokers, franchisees and employees. Co-Founder & CEO of Real REMAX Group Tamir Poleg shared the commitments and vision of the group as the beginning of a new era for both companies.
“Real and REMAX agents are among the most trusted professionals in real estate, and we are committed to building a platform that helps all agents and brokers succeed,” he wrote.
Taking uncertainty off the table, he reiterated that REMAX stays REMAX – the brand, the balloon, and the independent broker/owner model remaining: “More than 50 years of brand equity is an incredible asset, and we intend to make it even stronger – not disrupt it.”
