Harcourts People and Culture Announces 2026 Theme: A Year of "Breaking Blue"

Mr Green introduced the theme as a direct response to employee feedback. While previous years prioritised personal bests and education, 2026 is about momentum.

"In previous years, we've focused on upskilling and being the best we can be, which remains important," said Mitch. "But this year, we are focusing entirely on action.

We’re going to be breaking the things that don't serve us and breaking into the areas that will. We want to break new ground, break our silence, break old patterns, and break down barriers."

A Strategic Roadmap for Action

The "Breaking Blue" initiative is structured across four quarters, each targeting a specific area of growth and development:

·       Quarter 1: Breaking Ground. The focus is on tackling new spaces and strategic innovation. Team members will be encouraged to explore what is possible, supported by live interviews with strategic leaders discussing their future focus.

·       Quarter 2: Breaking Barriers. The team will identify roadblocks hindering performance. The goal is to pinpoint obstacles—both personal and organisational—and collaboratively dismantle them to achieve key outcomes.

·       Quarter 3: Breaking Patterns. This phase addresses the status quo. It challenges the team to shake off old habits or "the old mud we’re stuck in" to form new, efficient ways of working.

·       Quarter 4: Breaking Silence. The year concludes with a focus on communication. Staff are encouraged to verbalise ideas they haven't felt confident sharing and identify areas for improvement to set the stage for 2027.

Connecting People to Strategy

A core driver of the 2026 theme is the desire for greater transparency. Mitch Green acknowledged that the team wanted a stronger connection to the broader business strategy and real-world outcomes.

"One of the key bits of feedback we received was a desire for people to connect better to the business strategy and what we are actually delivering out in the world," Mr Green explained.

"So, we’ve listened. Every single week, I’ll be delivering 'Breaking News' updates to keep everyone informed on the progress we’re making and the strategic shifts we’re taking."

Breaking Into a New Career

As Harcourts embraces this year of action, the invitation extends beyond the current team.

For industry professionals looking to break out of a role that no longer serves them and break into a company that prioritises growth, connection, and authentic support, Harcourts is ready to welcome the bold.

"It is time to go out there and be the hunter, not the hunted," Mr Green added. "We are still bringing all the initiatives our team enjoys—opportunities to learn, grow, and celebrate—but this year, we go out Breaking Blue."
