From Afghanistan to the apartment blocks of Teneriffe, Nathan Briggs is proving that discipline, strategy, and grit aren’t just battlefield skills — they’re powerful tools in Brisbane real estate.

The former army dog handler, who completed 10 years of military service before transitioning into real estate, has joined Place Estate Agents New Farm, setting his sights firmly on becoming the go-to agent for Brisbane’s inner-city suburb of Teneriffe.

Briggs' background is far from ordinary.

After leaving the military in 2013, he climbed the ranks at McGrath Estate Agents, where he evolved from personal assistant to Sydney Inner West’s top-performing apartment agent — ultimately being named Camperdown’s number one agent in 2020.

Now back in Queensland, Briggs is bringing his military mindset to one of Brisbane’s most competitive and sought-after markets.

“Discipline, time management, clear communication — these aren’t just military skills. They’re life skills that translate perfectly to real estate,” he said. “I’m always the first one in and the last one out. That mentality doesn’t leave you.”

Teneriffe, with its riverside charm, warehouse conversions, and vibrant community of professionals and young families, is a market that demands local knowledge and personal connection.

Briggs is all in.“Navigating Teneriffe means knowing its buildings, its cafés, its people. I’m out there every day, listening, learning, and building trust,” he said.

His approach is already paying off. Since joining lead agent Aaron Woolard’s New Farm team, Briggs has secured five listings in his first month — a clear sign his boots-on-the-ground commitment is resonating with sellers.

Woolard said Briggs’ entrance to the team has brought a new layer of energy and professionalism.“Nathan’s military background gives him an unmatched level of focus, and his ability to connect with people is something you can’t teach.

Teneriffe is booming, and Nathan’s presence is only going to elevate our position in the market.”

Briggs admits the real estate game isn’t for the faint-hearted, but like the military, the rewards come to those who commit.

“You’ve got to want it. You’ve got to show up every day, ask for the business, and grind. But when you do, the success follows.”
