22 agents join eXp Realty Australia as professionals reassess traditional real estate models
As Australia’s real estate industry continues to navigate changing market conditions, rising compliance demands and increasing operational pressure, a notable shift is taking place among agents looking for greater control over the future of their businesses.
Since 1 January 2026, 22 real estate professionals from across Australia have joined eXp Realty Australia, a number the company says reflects growing interest in more flexible, agent-led business models.
While the figure may appear modest in isolation, eXp Realty Australia says the significance lies in the type of professionals making the move. The group includes experienced business owners, established sales agents and industry leaders who have chosen to align with a model built around independence, technology, collaboration and global connectivity.
eXp Realty Australia Country Leader Mindy Powell-Hodges said the recent growth reflects a broader mindset shift within the industry.
Every agent who joins eXp has a story, Powell-Hodges said. They are not looking for a job. They are looking for a better way to build their business, serve their clients and create long-term opportunities for themselves and their families.
In many cases, these are established professionals who have spent years building successful careers. Their decision to join eXp is a reflection of where they see the future of the industry heading.
The first half of 2026 has been marked by continued pressure across the Australian real estate landscape. Compliance obligations have increased, consumer expectations are evolving and the cost of running a traditional real estate business remains a key consideration for many operators.
For some agents, those pressures are prompting a closer look at how their businesses are structured, what support they receive and whether traditional office-based models still provide the flexibility they need.
eXp Realty Australia says the appeal for new members has been the ability to operate with greater independence while remaining connected to a broader national and global network. The company points to its technology, collaborative culture and business ownership opportunities as key factors behind the recent growth.
Powell-Hodges said the decision to move brands or business models is rarely taken lightly.
Joining eXp is often one of the biggest professional decisions an agent will make, she said. It takes confidence, vision and a willingness to embrace new opportunities. We never take that lightly.
What makes me most proud is not the number itself. It is the calibre of the people who have trusted us with the next chapter of their business journey.
Across the industry, growth is often measured through office numbers, market share or recruitment figures. However, eXp Realty Australia says the more important indicator is the confidence being shown by experienced professionals choosing to build their businesses under the brand.
As the company continues to invest in compliance, technology and agent support, the first six months of 2026 suggest that more agents are considering models that offer flexibility, ownership and connection beyond traditional structures.
For eXp Realty Australia, the addition of 22 professionals since the start of the year points to a growing appetite for change.
And for the agents making the move, the decision appears to be about more than changing brands. It is about backing a different view of what a modern real estate business can look like.
