Ahead of her first Mother’s Day, Gabby Paki, Social Media Content Creator for Harcourts, is taking a moment to reflect on the realities of navigating a demanding, fast-paced career alongside the new adventure of motherhood. Her experience highlights not only her personal growth but also how a supportive work environment can empower new mothers to thrive.

Working in social media typically requires an "always-on" mentality. For Paki, the transition to motherhood brought unexpected benefits to her professional life, forcing her to redefine her daily routine. "What surprised me most is how much more intentional I’ve had to become with my time and energy," she says. "I think I assumed it would feel impossible to balance both, and that I'd just be a sleep-deprived mess. But in reality, it’s made me more focused, more efficient, and a lot less caught up in the noise. There is definitely less room for mindless scrolling and more focus on purposeful work."

This newfound perspective has also profoundly influenced her approach to content creation. Rather than simply showcasing the architectural features of a property, Paki now views homes through a highly emotional, human lens. "Motherhood has definitely shifted the way I approach storytelling," she explains. "It’s less about just marketing a house, and more about the life that could be lived there. I find myself thinking about families, routines, and the little everyday moments that happen in a home. It has made me far more empathetic to the emotional side of property decisions."

Balancing these dual roles wouldn't be possible without a strong support system. Paki credits the Harcourts team for providing the flexibility and understanding needed to navigate this major life transition smoothly. Knowing she has the trust of her colleagues to manage both her workload and her family life has removed a tremendous amount of pressure. "It’s been incredibly valuable having open conversations about expectations," she notes. "It means I can show up fully in both areas without feeling like I’m constantly falling short in either."

For Paki, the definition of success has fundamentally changed. Where it once revolved around output and performance metrics, it is now firmly rooted in balance.

"Success looks quite different now," she shares. "It is being able to do meaningful work that I’m proud of, while also being present for my family. If I can finish the day knowing I’ve done a good job at work and still have enough energy left to actually enjoy being at home, that feels like a massive win to me."
