A rare opportunity to secure a freehold property in the heart of Burleigh Heads’ James Street retail and dining precinct has come to market, marking the first freehold sale on the tightly held strip in almost five years.
Located at 29 James Street, the freestanding retail investment is being offered for sale via Expressions of Interest by Travis Rayner, Director of Commercial at Harcourts Property Hub, and Emilio Ciavarella of RWC Burleigh Group.
The last freehold sale on James Street took place in January 2022, when a property reportedly sold for $7 million at a 3.94 per cent yield, highlighting the limited opportunities for investors to secure freehold assets in the precinct.
The 405sqm property comprises two retail tenancies with a combined lettable area of 268sqm. Both are occupied by longstanding tenants operating a cafe and bulk food store, with leases extending to 2028 and further options.

The property is estimated to generate net rental income of $215,762.33 per annum plus GST after land tax from 1 November 2026.
Travis Rayner of Harcourts Property Hub said the opportunity to purchase a freestanding freehold in such an established retail precinct was likely to attract attention from investors seeking a combination of ongoing income and a foothold in Burleigh Heads.
“James Street is a tightly held location, and opportunities to acquire freehold property here are few and far between. With the last freehold sale dating back to January 2022, this campaign gives buyers a chance to secure an asset in one of the Gold Coast’s best-known retail and dining destinations,” Mr Rayner said.
The property also offers rear access and on-site parking via Justin Lane. Its single-storey configuration and Centre zoning may provide scope to explore future redevelopment, subject to council approval and existing lease arrangements.

The vendor is inviting offers ahead of the Expressions of Interest deadline, with all offers to be presented for consideration.
Expressions of Interest close Thursday 12 November 2026 at 4pm AEST. Inspections are strictly by appointment.
