REA Group has launched a new ChatGPT-powered property search app that allows Australians to find homes listed on realestate.com.au using natural, conversational language directly within the ChatGPT platform.

The app lets property seekers enter queries as they would speak — for example by specifying location, budget or features — and receive live, up-to-date listings with photos, pricing, descriptions and agent details displayed on an interactive map.

Users can refine searches conversationally, apply common filters such as price and number of bedrooms, and take quick actions like saving properties or contacting agents.

REA Group’s chief product and audience officer Jonathan Swift said the launch reflects changing consumer behaviour, particularly among younger buyers who are increasingly using AI tools as part of their property journey.

By making realestate.com.au listings discoverable through ChatGPT, the group aims to meet users where they start their searchand provide a more engaging, personalised experience early in the home-buying process.

Swift said the ChatGPT app will be the first in a suite of AI-enabled features designed to enhance how Australians explore property online.

He emphasised that REA’s proprietary data and extensive audience reach position it to deliver valuable insights and experiences through these technologies while continuing to connect buyers with agents and vendors.

The integration builds on REA’s broader investment in artificial intelligence and natural-language search tools, reinforcing its strategy to offer more choice, flexibility and personalised search options for property seekers across the country.
