Leading Melbourne luxury real estate firm Abercrombys has announced its first interstate expansion with the opening of a Hobart office, marking a significant milestone in the business’s growth.
The new office which officially opens this week will be located in the Gattonside heritage building in the prestigious Battery Point precinct and will be led by highly respected Hobart local Georgie Rayner.
The move into Tasmania reflects Abercrombys’ continued success in Melbourne’s luxury lifestyle market and its considered approach to growth – expanding only where the right people and long standing client demand align.
The Hobart office will focus on luxury and lifestyle properties across Battery Point, Sandy Bay and surrounding areas, including unique estates heritage homes, waterfront residences and architecturally significant properties as well as boutique luxury new developments.
The expansion also strengthens Abercrombys’ ability to support clients seeking lifestyle and generational property opportunities beyond Melbourne, as well as buyers from other states attracted to Tasmania’s lifestyle, climate and value.
Abercrombys CEO Sally O’Connell said the decision to expand into Hobart was a natural evolution of the Abercrombys portfolio-driven model.
“Abercrombys has always been about building long-term, trusted relationships rather than chasing transactions. Many of our Melbourne clients are looking to expand their property portfolios into lifestyle and regional markets, and Hobart continues to emerge as a compelling destination – both as a place to live and as a safe haven for investment,” Ms O’Connell said.
“Our expansion into Tasmania allows us to support clients across generations and geographies, while remaining true to our boutique, luxury positioning.”
Georgie Rayner, a Hobart local with deep personal and professional connections throughout the community, was a natural choice to lead the office.
Born and raised in Hobart, Rayner brings a strong understanding of the city’s property landscape, having begun her career locally before building an impressive professional network across Melbourne and Tasmania.
After spending two decades in Melbourne running a successful events business specialising in high profile society weddings and major racing events, Rayner returned to Hobart with her family, where she has quickly re-established herself as a trusted and highly connected property advisor.
“Georgie embodies everything Abercrombys stands for – integrity, discretion, relationship-driven service and a genuine passion for property,” Ms O’Connell said.
“She is exceptionally well connected, deeply respected, and has an innate understanding of the Hobart market. She was the clear choice to establish our first interstate office.”
Rayner said she was proud to bring the Abercrombys brand to her hometown.
“Hobart is experiencing a quiet confidence in its property market. It’s not driven by seasons or school terms like larger cities – much of the activity is local or returning Tasmanians, alongside considered interstate buyers seeking lifestyle, acreage and long-term value,” Ms Rayner said.
“Abercrombys’ focus on luxury, discretion and generational relationships resonates strongly here. I’m excited to introduce a new standard of service to the Hobart market.”
The Hobart office will commence operations immediately, with Rayner set to go live with her first property listings this week.
Now entering its 21st year, Abercrombys continues to grow market share in Melbourne’s Stonnington and Boroondara regions while remaining committed to its boutique positioning.
The business will continue to consider new markets selectively, ensuring each expansion reflects its core values and meets the evolving needs of its clients.
