Dean Efrossynis, a senior Sydney real estate principal who acquired a stake in the national Laing+Simmons Corporation during its 2021 ownership takeover, has appeared in court charged with a domestic violence-related property damage offence.
Dean Efrossynis, 38, a director and principal associated with Laing+Simmons East Group, appeared before Waverley Local Court on Thursday, 8 October 2026, following an alleged incident at his wife's residence in Sydney's eastern suburbs.
The court proceedings, first reported by The Daily Telegraph and subsequently by The Greek Herald, concern allegations that Efrossynis damaged a window at the property on Sunday, 4 October.
Efrossynis, who has spent approximately two decades in the real estate industry, holds a senior position within the Laing+Simmons network and was among the franchise operators who acquired an ownership interest in the national corporation in 2021.
Alleged incident and court proceedings
According to published reports citing court documents, police allege that Efrossynis intentionally or recklessly damaged a living room window at his wife's residence shortly after 5.30pm on Sunday, 4 October.
He was arrested on Tuesday, 6 October, and appeared before Waverley Local Court two days later, charged with domestic violence-related property damage.
The court reportedly heard that Efrossynis and his wife had been living separately following the alleged incident.
Efrossynis was granted bail and is subject to an interim Apprehended Domestic Violence Order (ADVO), which provides protection for his wife and others residing at the property.
According to the reporting, the interim order includes restrictions relating to firearms and prohibited weapons, along with conditions restricting Efrossynis from being in his wife's company within 12 hours of consuming alcohol or illicit drugs.
The making of an interim ADVO does not constitute a finding of guilt. The criminal charge remains before the court.
Senior role within Laing+Simmons East Group
Efrossynis is a second-generation real estate professional whose career has been closely associated with the Laing+Simmons network in Sydney's eastern suburbs.
He joined Laing+Simmons Kingsford in 2006 as a property manager and became co-principal in 2016, working alongside his father, Nicholas Efrossynis, who established the Kingsford business in 1986.
His involvement subsequently extended to Laing+Simmons East Group, a collaborative business structure established to bring together several of the network's eastern suburbs operations.
The group has operated across Potts Point, Bondi Junction, Kingsford, Randwick and Coogee.
In April 2024, Laing+Simmons announced the expansion of East Group with the opening of its Randwick–Coogee office, led by Nicholas Efrossynis, Dean Efrossynis and fellow principal Robert Paridis.
The expansion built on the group's existing Potts Point, Bondi Junction and Kingsford operations, bringing four offices together through a shared services model.
Efrossynis is currently listed as a principal of the Laing+Simmons Randwick, Coogee, Kingsford and Bondi Junction operation. Potts Point was part of the East Group structure identified in the 2024 expansion announcement.
Ownership involvement in Laing+Simmons Corporation
Efrossynis's involvement with the real estate network has extended beyond individual agency operations to an investment in its national franchise business.
In April 2021, Laing+Simmons Corporation underwent a member-led ownership transition, with a group of franchise operators acquiring the business.
Dean Efrossynis was among the participating investors, alongside his father, Nicholas Efrossynis.
The company's 2022 annual report identifies both men as shareholders, together with other network principals, including Robert Paridis.
Their ownership involvement was subsequently referenced in an April 2024 announcement concerning the expansion of Laing+Simmons East Group.
The acquisition marked a change in the network's ownership structure, placing the national franchise business under the control of participating operators.
The allegations now before the court concern an incident in a personal setting. The published reports do not allege wrongdoing involving Laing+Simmons Corporation, its franchise operations or property transactions.
Matter to return to court
Efrossynis is scheduled to return to Waverley Local Court on Thursday, 29 October 2026, when he is expected to enter a plea.
The Daily Telegraph reported that Efrossynis declined to comment on the proceedings.
As at 14 October 2026, no conviction or final determination has been reported.
The allegations against Mr Efrossynis have not been proven in court, and he is entitled to the presumption of innocence.
