Three years after making the bold decision to leave a well-established franchise group and partner with innovative real estate platform URBAN X, TAYLORHEDLEY Property has achieved remarkable growth, increasing total sales volume by 209% and solidifying their position as a market leader in Newcastle and Lake Macquarie.

Directors Sam Taylor and Beau Hedley, founded TAYLORHEDLEY with a clear philosophy – to build genuine relationships and deliver outstanding results for clients.

This client-centric approach, captured in their brand position "It’s Not About Us, It’s About Your Home", was made possible with industry-disruptor URBAN X.

Despite having built strong reputations within their local markets under their previous franchise group, both agents understood a fundamental truth: agents create the success, and therefore should reap the greater rewards.

"When we previously worked for the franchise brand, we got our name out there, but as we grew our business in our core areas across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie, we realised we were actually building our own reputation and our own name," said Beau.

However, the transition from their previous group to becoming an independent office required overcoming significant psychological barriers that traditional franchise models often create.

Sam explains; "It's always a bit of a challenge and a fear because you work so hard to build your reputation, but you’re also building the reputation of the brand that you're working for. I think some of the larger franchises kind of condition you to think that you really need them as a support or backing but you don't."

The local market response to TAYLORHEDLEY has clearly validated their strategic decision. Within 12 months of the partnership, TAYLORHEDLEY Property more than doubled their sales volume to over $180 million, up +172% from the previous year.

Furthermore, the team has now expanded to 16 staff members, with over $200 million in sales volume recorded in the last financial year.

"From the moment that we left our previous agency we just knew we'd made the right decision," Sam continued.

"We've found that clients actually list with the agent and not so much the agency. By putting our name on the door it's created trust with that clientele that we're going to do the right thing by them."

The partnership with URBAN X has proven transformative. The platform's sophisticated back-end support system enables agents to focus on high-value activities while maintaining operational excellence.

"The team at URBAN X are there that whole way through, always prompting you when something needs to be done, so it's taken our service to the next level," noted Beau.

CEO & Co-founder of URBAN X, Dan Argent, emphasises that the real estate industry is experiencing a fundamental shift, with an increasing number of elite agents looking to take advantage of the personal reputations they’ve built.

"Traditional franchise models are becoming increasingly obsolete as top-performing agents recognise their individual brand power," says Dan.

"Sam and Beau's success demonstrates what happens when exceptional agents are empowered with the right platform and support structure.”

"We provide the tech and tools so leaders like Sam and Beau can build a legacy based on their unique vision and expertise. What they’ve achieved to-date is a blueprint for others thinking of doing the same."
