In what could be described as the real estate industry's most entertaining fundraising moment, Harcourts Western Australia CEO Shane Kempton found himself the star lot at the Harcourts Tasmania Annual Awards, fetching a record price in a spirited human auction that had the crowd on their feet.
The fierce bidding war culminated with Harcourts Burnie emerging victorious, securing a full day of training and coaching with Kempton.
All proceeds from the auction went directly to the Harcourts Foundation to support their "Backpack Beds" initiative for the homeless across Australia.
"After being 'auctioned off' at the Harcourts Tasmania Annual Awards earlier this year, it was my absolute pleasure to be bought by and to invest a full day of training and coaching at the amazing team at Harcourts Burnie," said Kempton, who clearly embraced the novelty of being sold to the highest bidder.
The winning bid secured three comprehensive sessions for the Burnie team: specialised training for the sales team, strategic coaching for the leadership group, and a company-wide presentation featuring Kempton's acclaimed "Rewilding Keynote" on enhancing neurochemistry and courage (pictured).
Tony Morrison, CEO of Harcourts Tasmania, couldn't contain his enthusiasm about the result. "I believe it was a record price for a 'human auction item.'
But Shane's coaching and inspirational words are priceless," Morrison noted, highlighting the unique nature of the fundraising approach.
Allison Nibbs, Director of Harcourts Burnie, expressed her team's excitement about their successful bid.
"The funds raised will assist the Harcourts Foundation in continuing its support of local communities. This event truly showcases the Harcourts spirit of giving back."
The auction exemplifies Harcourts' commitment to community support and their distinctive company culture. As Kempton reflected, "Just another wonderful example of our Harcourts 'One Team' culture in action.
At Harcourts 'we make it possible' and truly are 'One Team' with a 'people first culture'. 2025 is going to be exciting."
