For the second year running, Barry Plant Craigieburn’s Romi Sleiman is lending his expertise to one of the most heart-warming real estate sales of the year — the 2025 Home For A Cure campaign, with every cent of profit going directly to My Room Children’s Cancer Charity.
“This is such a special cause to be involved in,” Romi said. “Real estate can be glamorous, but it’s important to give back to the community.
Having the opportunity to do this for a second year in a row is incredibly rewarding. It feels like I’m making a difference in people’s lives.”
The 2025 Home For A Cure is a striking four-bedroom, five-bathroom Henley residence at 36 Pasilla Circuit, Mickleham.
The property will go under the hammer at 11:00am on Saturday, September 6, 2025, as part of the My Room Grand Final Telethon, with all proceeds supporting children battling cancer and their families.
The campaign has united industry leaders and community partners: Barry Plant is donating the sale campaign, the 412m² block in Botanical Estate has been generously provided by Satterley Property Group, and Henley Homes has built the modern double-storey residence.
Romi was introduced to the initiative by Barry Plant Taylors Lakes and St Albans’ James Hatzimoisis, who will once again serve as auctioneer.
James has been a driving force behind Home For A Cure for five years, calling the auction and leading the campaign entirely pro bono to ensure every dollar raised goes to vital research.
“I first became involved through My Room board members Margaret Zita OAM and Mary Kayalicos, who invited me to learn more about the charity,” James said.
“Cancer touches so many lives, and I’m proud to have supported the campaign over the years. It’s inspiring to see so many people dedicate their time and energy — including Romi, who has now joined for the second year running.”
In 2024, the Home For A Cure property sold for $1 million during the My Room Grand Final Spectacular at Crown Melbourne. This year, Romi and James are determined to raise the bar even higher.
“Last year was my first time working with My Room, and it was truly inspiring,” Romi said.
“This year I’m back managing the opens and campaign work, while Jimmy brings his trademark energy to auction day. Together we hope to surpass last year’s incredible result.”
The campaign has already drawn attention from AFL stars Andrew McGrath (Essendon) and Will Day (Hawthorn), who visited the open home as My Room ambassadors.
Barry Plant CEO Lisa Pennell said giving back to the community is fundamental to the network’s values.
“A successful real estate business relies on community connection. That’s why we believe it’s our duty to give back, especially to such an important cause as finding a cure for childhood cancer.
Our hearts go out to every family affected by this devastating disease, and we hope contributions like Romi’s and Jimmy’s can play even a small part in finding a cure.”
This year’s campaign also shines a light on Kruz — the six-year-old face of Home For A Cure.
After being diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia, he has endured intensive treatment, including a bone marrow transplant, and now faces a new clinical trial. His story is a powerful reminder of why this initiative matters.
“Every dollar makes a real difference for kids like Kruz,” Romi said. “Being part of that fight, even in a small way, is a privilege.
So if you’re in the market for a new home this September, why not buy in Botanical and make a huge difference to an important cause?”
The auction will take place live on Saturday, 6 September 2025, with all profits donated to My Room Children’s Cancer Charity.
